Three Bear Sled Dog Races: February 5th & 6th, 2022

This weekend, Land O’ Lakes will be hosting the 42nd annual Three Bear Sled Dog Races. The races have become one of the most popular dog sled races in the Midwest and attract mushers from several states and Canada. For all guests and visitors to the area, I highly recommend that you plan on experiencing this unique winter tradition.

After missing the 2021 races due to the pandemic, this years’ races will have 70 mushers who will compete for cash prizes in various dog-racing classes. The trails that will be used for the races wind through the forests surrounding Land O’ Lakes with strategically placed spectator viewing locations that offer some of the most beautiful scenery in the nation as well as a trail-side view of the dogs and mushers. With the excellent snow conditions that we are having, the races are expected to attract a few thousand guests.

The races begin on Saturday morning, February 5th, at 10:00 am at the Town Hall and run through Sunday afternoon, February 6th, 3:00 pm. All of the events are free to the public and food and beverage vendors will be available to serve the spectators.

On Saturday night, beginning at 8:00 pm, the Gateway Lodge will be hosting an evening of music featuring “Sons of Legend,” one of the most popular bands in the area. There is no cover charge and this get-together offers our guests the opportunity to meet and mingle with the mushers and members of the racing teams.

For those visitors new to the area, I recommend that you plan on attending the party at the Gateway Lodge and enjoy the décor of one of Wisconsin’s most historic and premiere lodges (lobby area shown below).
